PART 1. THEORY OF KNOWLEDGE: KEY CONCEPTS

 

1.1. Knowledge: Issues of discipline. Brief history of the Theory of Knowledge. The crisis of the theory of knowledge. First approach to the standard theory. Knowledge as justified true belief. The concept of belief. The concept of truth. The concept of justification.

 

1.2. Belief: Belief as propositional attitude. Belief and representation. Belief as disposition. Belief as biological function. Eliminativism. The indeterminacy of belief, according to Quine. Instrumentalism of belief. Externalism and internalism. Atomism and holism. Theories of probability. The problem of voluntarism.

 

1.3. Epistemic Justification: Fundamentism or foundationalism. Theories of non-inferential justification. Theories of (valid) inference. Criticics of Fundamentism. Coherentism. Arguments for coherentism. Criticics of coherentism. Foundherentism.

 

1.4. Truth: The problem of truth. Adecuationist Views. Coherentist Views. Pragmatist views. Deflationary views.
